Music is an almost alchemical force to JUNO nominated Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer, Morgan Toney. The legacy of welcome between the first European explorers and the Mi'kmaw, of bridging two worlds, lives on in the songs and fiddling of this Cape Breton breakout roots artist.

With thousands of years of tradition behind him, Toney melds the Scottish heritage of his Nova Scotian island with Mi'kmaq songs, stories, and languages in his own genre of music - "Mi'Kmaltic" - meaning Mi'kmaq + Celtic.

Toney's latest album Heal the Divide (2025 Ishkōdé Records), recognizes the difficult history the L'nuk (Mi'kmaq People) and all First Nations peoples have had in Canada, but it also celebrates the L'nu legacy in Canadian culture. It's part of Toney's larger vision to bring people together, to set our differences aside, and walk toward a place that Toney calls the "Promised Land".

Morgan Toney proudly welcomes the rest of Canada and the world to L'nu traditions as they contain many universal teachings.

Joining Toney is Keith Mullins (guitar, vocals, percussion) and Ryan Roberts (madonlin, vocals). Mullins professional career, beginning at the ripe age of 15, has taken him around the world and onto many stages sharing the spotlight with some genuine musical greats such as Matt Anderson, Ron Hynes, Bruce Guthro, Lennie Galant, Gordie Sampson, Jimmy Rankin, Natalie MacMaster, The Mellotones, Garrett Mason and many, many more. Roberts was awarded "Songwriter of they year" for four consecutive years (2005-09) by the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards, and his songs have been recorded by Rose Cousins, Kevin Davison, The Spinney Brothers, True Blue, Justin Carbone amon other contemporaries.
