Allen Dobb is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose music blends country, folk, and roots traditions with a modern, literate edge. Praised by the Edmonton Journal, Peter North, as “one of the finest and most literate tunesmiths in this country,” Dobb crafts songs that resonate with authenticity and a deep sense of place.
Dobb has performed at major folk festivals including Edmonton, Winnipeg, Mariposa, and Bumbershoot, and toured the U.K. His albums - Horses and Hills, Bottomland, Rosetown, and Alone Together - have earned praise for their depth and authenticity. Americana Highways calls his songs “heart searching and touching, strong and vibrant.”
His latest release, The Afterlife Sessions (2026), recorded live at Vancouver’s Afterlife Studios, is an all-acoustic project featuring Dan Fremlin (mandolin), Ryland Moranz (banjo, guitar), Rob Becker (upright bass), and Trent Freeman (fiddle). “In a time when everyone is talking about AI in music, this project couldn’t be further away from that,” says Dobb. “We just put up the microphones and played.”
Allen Dobb’s music is steeped in lived experience. His melodic, soulful voice invites listeners into stories that feel both personal and universal. Whether reflecting on the beauty of the Fraser River grasslands or the resilience of the human spirit, Dobb’s songs offer a rare combination of lyrical depth and emotional honesty.
“Captivating from start to finish, Alone Together is more than simply a great acoustic album. It’s a soundtrack to a full life, and a reminder not to overlook the simple beauty in the world around us.” - Jackson Miller - Adventures in Americana
