Rogue 33 RPM | July 4 | This Day In Rogue History
On this day in 2010 we teamed up with Capilano University's North Shore Jazz series to
present legendary American roots musicians Jim Kweskin & Geoff Muldaur - with Vancouver's
Steve Dawson to complete a phenomenal trio - at Cap's Blueshore Financial Stage.
In 2009 we brought Scotland's great Celtic quartet Old Blind Dogs to St. James Hall. This was their sixth Rogue show, and their most recent to date.
In 1998 we presented the Vancouver debut concert with the Irish trad septet Danu at the Wise Hall. What a great night was had by all - and for some of the band members the night did not end until well after sunrise the following day, when a couple of stragglers were seen crawling through the hedge at the home of their billeting couple Maggie & Tom in New West! One can only speculate as to how they got there from the east end... You can read more about the band and the concert on Page 7 of our June 1998 Rogue Folk Review.
Finally, back in 1992, we presented the Vancouver debut of the rollicking Irish Celtic - and a whole lot more - band, Four Men & A Dog at the Wise Hall. This was another sold out show and a quintessentially fabulous night of roguery! This band remains one of my biggest favourites of all time. We'd love to be able to bring them back some day. See page 2 of our July 1992 Review for more details of this concert.
