Rogue 33 RPM | June 21 | This Day in Rogue History
In 2013 we presented the wonderful New England quartet Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem at St. James. Hard to believe that this was only their second Rogue gig, and they haven't played for us since. However they have made several appearances at local folk festivals over the years. Really fun band, and such good singers! More details can be seen here.
On this day in 2008 Vancouver Celtic quartet Blackthorn launched their Sweet Forget-Me-Not CD with a show at St. James. Margaret & I were sipping the very finest beer in Munchen at the time so we missed this show.
10 years earlier we brought some fine Irish / Scots trad to the Wise Hall with Anam - featuring Orkney singer Aimee Leonard They were featured on the cover of our 1998 Rogue Folk Review.
Finally, back in 1987 we presented one of the very first Rogue shows - at The Savoy with our "house band", Stephen Fearing, hosting Vancouver folk bands Natural Elements and Under The Moss. See our two-sided newsletter from that month for details.
