Rogue 33 RPM | June 29 | This Day in Rogue History

If you scroll down Steve's Blog for this day in 2011 you'll see that The Rogue helped promote the Mississippi Sheiks' Tribute Show at Cap's Blueshore Stage. The original shows had taken place there the previous February as part of the Winter Olympics Cultural Program and what a stellar line-up there was! Most of those performers returned for this show, as you can see from the above photo I took that Summer evening: The Sojourners, Jesse Zubot, Keith Lowe, Jim Byrnes, Danny Barnes, Del Rey, and Steve Dawson. There was a great DVD of the original shows on sale in the lobby, which includes some of my photos! I think it's still available ...

Back in 2003 we presented Australia's Colcannon - a fine folk group featuring Eric Bogle's long-time singing partner John Munro and the glorious voice of Kat Kraus - and Vancouver's old-time stringband Dyad at the Wise Hall. See the cover story on our June 2003 Rogue Folk Review for a great write-up by Al Meyer.
