Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Rogue Folk Review - all the news you need

We just finished putting the latest issue of the Rogue Folk Review into the mail. They should be delivered on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Meanwhile, you may download it from this website. I had a bit of confusion with the database software this afternoon and managed to print more labels than we usually print. So some members who have lapsed or indicated that they wish to download the Review will find one in their mailbox next week. Some days are like that. Just ask Karen Savoca. She wrote a song about such things.

Willie & Lobo - last chance to see them in Vancouver is upon us, Friday October 19th

The gypsy violin of Willie Royal and the flamenco guitar of Wolfgang "Lobo" Fink will only be heard together in concert in vancouver one more time. That is tonight at St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue) at 8pm. There are still some tickets available on-line on our website and also at Highlife Records and Rufus' Guitar Shop.

Edge On Folk, Saturday October 20th, 8am to 12 noon on CiTR fm 101.9 and www.citr.ca

This week i've got some tasty new releases including:

Wounded Heart Of America - Songs of Tom Russell (including some great new songs by the man, and wonderful covers by Eliza Gilkyson, Dave Alvin, Joe Ely, Johnny Cash, and Ian Tyson & Nanci Griffith)

New Tattoo - John Cowan Band; Hey Eugene! - Pink Martini; Live in Dublin - Bruce Springsteen & The Session band; Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John - Peter Case; Throw Down - The Wilders; True Lover - The Turtleduhks (old-time music by Leonard and Jordan with fiddler Lydia Garrison); Nathan's new EP (Casserole) and full-length CD (Key Principles), some Bluegrass samplers (thanks to Ron Roth, who brought me pressies from the IBMA awards), new Halali (Lissa Schneckenburger, Laura Cortese, Hanneke Cassel and Flynn Cohen), plus music by the Umoja Band. And concert previews and whatever else I feel moved to play. Please join me for 4 hours of the best Roots Music on the Planet!

Umoja

South African musical hits the Vogue for a month, starting next week. Catch the band (sort of a cross between the Mahotella Queens and Ladysmith Black Mambazo - only much younger) at Rime, 1130 Commercial Drive at 9pm on Sunday, October 21. Only $15, all of which goes to the band. The musical costs a lot more, by the way.

Have a great weekend!
