Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Crooked Still in town tomorrow night!

We have a concert tomorrow night, with one of the best young bands around: Crooked Still, from Boston, featuring Aoife O'Donovan on vocals, with accompaniment on banjo (Greg Liszt), cello (Tristan Clarridge), fiddle (Brittany Haas), and bass (Corey di Mario). They have just released their 3rd CD, Still Crooked, on Signature Sounds. It's their first since original cellist Rushad Eggleston left the group last November, and it continues their tradition of blending old time and blues songs with bluegrass tunes and original compositions in their own inimitable style.

Old time music is experiencing a surge of popularity these days, with Vancouver a veritable hotbed. We would love to have a full house for this show. The weather is delightfully cooler this week, so the hall will be much more comfortable than it has been of late.

Why not come and join us as we welcome this superb band back to town? We guarantee that it will be an excellent concert. It's at St. James Hall, 3214 West 10th Avenue, at 8pm. Tickets are still available online and at Highlife Records, Rufus' Guitar Shop, and by phone on 604-736-3022. Concert Details...

On Saturday August 2nd from 8am to noon I'll be back at CiTR to host The Edge On Folk. It's a special birthday edition (mine!) so I'll be playing lots of my favourites, and also previewing concerts and festivals both in and out of town. Please join me by tuning in to CiTR fm 101.9 or Cable fm 101.9, or listen live on the net at www.citr.ca.

Cheers for now
