Hi everyone

Happy Halloween!!

If you're looking to escape the Trick or Treaters, why not head down to Cafe Montmartre at 29th and Main to catch Tim Readman and Craig McKerron, aka The Eventually Brothers? They just released a CD called All Over The Map, and it's pretty good. Excellent harmonies, tasteful pickin', and interesting songs all penned by Tim's friend Alan Millen from the UK (those two Geordie lads have recorded two CDs of Newcastle United songs, and they are getting plenty of airplay at St. James' Park before the games).

The new issue of the Rogue Folk Review is available for download.

Radio Rogue is now fully functional once more. Apologies for the interrupted service, which was caused by a power cut. Restarting the computer feed generated a new URL, apparently. So the link wasn't working. Thanks to Raymond for fixing it!

On Saturday November 1st there's a Contra Dance at St. James Hall, 3214 West 10th Avenue at 8pm. Music by The Sybaritic String Band. All dances taught on the spot. Admission is just $10, half price if you bring food to share.

Kim Barlow (Yukon), Christine Fellows (Manitoba) and Old Man Luedecke (Nova Scotia) team up with a string section and a percussionist to present original songs and collaborations. This show is brought to you courtesy of Black Hen Music and Rogue Folk Club - amongst others. Should be very interesting - especially if you're intrigued by new Canadian folk songs from three admirable songwriters with diverse styles. Two Martins, Capilano Performing Arts Theatre, Sunday November 2nd 8pm

Scottish jazz guitarist Martin Taylor teams up with English guitarist Martin Simpson for a fascinating journey through jazz, blues, folk, and more. They are both amazing players. I wish I could be in two places at once!

The Wheat In The Barley - CD Launch, St. James Hall, 3214 West 10th Ave., Friday November 7th 8pm

The Wheat in the Barley have been delighting audiences with their unique and creative arrangements of classic traditional tunes for quite some time now. As folk veteran Gary Cristall put it, they've been "messing with tradition for over a decade," with a focus on various streams in Canada's multicultural legacy. Funk, blues, klezmer, jazzy improvs and good ol' rock rhythms infuse their blazing trad repertoire with a myriad of musical flavours from around the world. CBC will be recording it for Canada Live. Vancouver guitar whiz Steve Dawson presents a release show for his new instrumental CD "Telescope". The band is... Steve Dawson - guitars and such, Keith Lowe - bass, Geoff Hicks - drums, JP Carter - trumpet, Chris Gestrin - keyboard.

and hey, they might even have a guest or two pop up at some time!
