2. Headwater and Laura Cortese Trio this Friday, Fearing & White this Sunday at St. James Hall, 3214 W.10th
We have two great shows this weekend. Headwater and Laura Cortese tomorrow night will be a very eclectic and melodic evening - ranging from Headwater's compelling songs and great harmonies to Laura's new fiddle / cello trio serving up some delicious Celtic music - and more.
Inside the Review you'll find a new write-up on this Sunday's Stephen Fearing & Andy White concert. This show will be recorded by Shore 104.3fm, who are presenting the show. We really appreciate their support! This radio station is doing wonders for burgeoning Canadian talent. Thank you Shore!! Stephen and Andy on Sunday will concentrate on their duo work, so it will be an all-new way to appreciate their music. And buy the CD. It's fab gear!
3. Radio Waves
I'm Sheryl McKay's guest on North By Northwest this Sunday morning at 8am on CBC Radio One (690 AM and 88.1 FM) Then I'm off to the St. Patrick's Day Parade at 11am and the Celtic Village for a while before zooming back to St. James Hall for Fearing & White.
Which means that Saturday is a relatively relaxing day for me! The Edge On Folk, Saturday 8am to noon on CiTR fm 101.9 and streamed live on www.citr.ca will feature new music from The Unthanks, Abigail Washburn, The Cottars, Laura Marling, Geoff Berner, Cahalen Morrison and Eli West, Oliver Schroer & Nuala Kennedy, and more from the amazing young Hungarian combo Tuz Langja and the latest from Malian Blues master Boubacar Traore. Plus some very hot Gypsy Jazz from Paris, and previews of our concerts - and others around town. Some surprises, too. Maybe even an interview with Stephen and Andy. Please join me for four hours of the very best in Roots music. There's so much great music being released these days. I'm doing my best to bring some of it to you!
4. Raising (Pizza) Dough for The Rogue - Tuesday March 22nd
Next Tuesday please join us for pizza (they also have gluten-free) or pasta / salads / desserts and beverages at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company (1876 West 1st Ave) They give 10% of the food and bar take to The Rogue - so take a night off and enjoy some great food and good company in a good cause next Tuesday evening.
5. Visit us online - and then in-person!
Tickets, Membership deals, and full details of all our concerts - including lots of new ones - can be found on our website and especially in the pages of the Rogue Folk Review.
Have a great weekend - perhaps we'll see you at the St. Patrick's Day Ceildih at The Yale tonight. Should be fun!
