Hi everyone

The downside of a long weekend is that those of us with jobs are expected to cram five days of work into the remaining four days. It's not helped by all those tryptophans in the thanksgiving turkey and the like (and the digestive problems resulting from excessive eating and drinking!) So, having eaten too much on Sunday, and having slept most of Monday to recover, and then having felt delicate all day Tuesday, all of a sudden it's almost Thursday and that report is due in tomorrow and where has the time gone?

Well, we probably can't help you with your scheduling problems - nor even your digestive problems! But, come Friday evening, you might just be in need of the sort of resuscitation that only music can provide. Maybe some music with the cathartic release of The Blues? Or some of the wild and crazy humour of a seasoned entertainer to keep you chuckling between songs? You need look no further than your good friends at The Rogue, and we have a scrumptious double bill of performers with strong roots in the blues playing St. James Hall:

Lauren Sheehan & Joel Fafard, Friday October 14th, St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue) at 8pm

This will be Lauren's first Rogue gig. She's from Portland Oregon, and she's just released her third CD, Rose City Ramble, with her trademark silky smooth vocals, and brilliant guitar, banjo and mandolin picking. She covers traditional blues, songs by the likes of Memphis Minnie, and her own personal takes on traditional folk and blues songs, and some original compositions, too. Also on the bill we have one of Canada's top slide guitar players - Joel Fafard. Joel moved to BC from Saskatchewan a couple of years ago, and his latest CD - Cluck Old Hen - features some classic Blues and old time songs. In fact it's an easily-digested feast of acoustic Blues & Roots music! He's released a few award winning CDs of original instrumental compositions over the years, too, and his mellifluous slide guitar work is quite mesmerizing.
