Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Just a quick message here, cos it's getting late! Juan Martin played a very long show tonight at the Kay Meek. Incredible concert with a singer, two dancers, a sax / flute / clarinet player and a percussionist accompanying the master of the flamenco guitar. Wow!

1. The Edge On Folk, CiTR fm 101.9, Shaw Cable 88.5fm and Telus TV Ch. 3717, also streamed live on www.citr.ca 8am to noon, Saturday November 5th

I'll have a few songs for Remembrance Day, a couple for Guy Fawkes, a few for Occupy Everywhere, previews of Rogue concerts, and new releases from Lila Downs, Tom Waits, Ray Bonneville, and Tim Readman, plus a new remix of a classic song by Eliza Gilkyson - and much more! Please join me for four hours of the best in Roots Music from here, there, and pretty much everywhere in between!

2. PBHS TV (KCTS Seattle) from 3am to 5am this Saturday morning

(so, unless you read this LIVE you'll miss it. It's 1am now!) repeats the Banjo spectacular hosted by Steve Martin, and featuring everyone from Bela Fleck to Pete Seeger. I've got my PVR set up to record it.

3. Contra Dance at St. James Hall on Saturday evening from 8pm to 11pm

with live fiddle music by The Sybaritic Stringband and all the dances taught on the spot. Maybe I'll see you there....

4. April Verch Trio in concert, Sunday, November 6th, 8pm, at St. James Hall, 3214 West 10th Avenue

The Rogue's big show this weekend features the incredible fiddler / step dancer and singer April Verch and her band. She's a stunning musician and a real firebrand of energy and talent. She has just released her 8th CD (I think it's 8) "That's How We Run" and will feature tunes and songs from that and lots more besides. Her music blends Old Time, Bluegrass, Country / Folk, and influences and tunes from places as far away from her native Ottawa Valley as Brazil, Ukraine, and Mexico! Come on down and see that not all the great step-dancing fiddlers come from Cape Breton! www.aprilverch.com

5. The November issue of the Rogue Folk Review

is now available for download from our website. Many of you will have received a copy in the mail. If yours hasn't arrived yet, it will be in your mail on Monday, but that's too late to read about April Verch and plan your week / month ahead, so visit our website and download it today!

Right, that's it for now. I'm off to dreamland for a few short hours. Then I'll be on the air at CiTR at 8am sharp. That's Life on The Edge, for ya!
