Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

1. Please Help Steve and CiTR!

There is still time to contribute to CiTR's annual Fundrive. Please call 604-822-8648 or visit www.citr.ca/donate and pledge any amount, $30 and up, to The Saturday Edge and help keep my show on the air and help CiTR to maintain its unique and exceptional programming. Did you catch lastr Saturday's show? If not, it's available as a podcast. Check out the excellent sets by Tim Readman's Band in the second podcast. They were in fine form showcasing 6 of the songs from Tim's excellent new CD Out Of The Green.

2. The Rakish Angles & Mark Perry Trio, Friday November 25, 8pm, St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue)

We have a great double bill tomorrow night, featuring two exciting B.C. acts - The Rakish Angles from the Sunshine Coast and The Mark Perry Trio from Smithers. Both bands have released extremely impressive CDs this Fall, and the Rakish Angles have just returned from a cross-Canada tour. Their unique blend of bluegrass, folk, swing, jazz and Celtic tunes is perfectly complimented by songs featuring excellent harmonies. Their arrangements are tasteful and exhilarating, and the musicianship is mighty! The new CD, Cottonwood Moon, marks significant strides made by the band since their impressive eponymous debut CD in 2009. This is a band that's going places, so catch them while you can at The Rogue! Mark Perry has performed four times at The Rogue over the years, but not since 2002. His new CD, West, is a really strong collection of original songs about life in Northern B.C. delivered in his easy-going country folk style. He is definitely one of Canada's finest songwriters, but you may not have heard of him before. Trust me, he's a wonderful entertainer and his band is always top-notch. For more information visit www.rakishangles.com and www.markperry.ca

3. The Edge On Folk, Saturday 8am to noon, CiTR fm 101.9, www.citr.ca

On The Saturday Edge On Folk this week I'll have music by John Reischman & The Jaybirds, The Deep Dark Woods, The Romeros, and more of the hottest new CDs of the year. And no spruiking! Please join me for four hours of the very best in Roots Music on Saturday from 8am to noon on CiTR fm 101.9 (Shaw Cable 88.5fm, Telus TV channel 3717, and streamed live on www.citr.ca)

4. Laptop Still For Sale

We still have a brand new, still-in-the-box, state of the art 15" laptop computer for sale. It has a 750GB hard drive and Quad Core processor with 4GB Ram, and comes complete with a fully-licensed copy of Windows 7 installed. Maybe you were thinking of buying a laptop for a family member - or for yourself - this Christmas. Why not give the money to The Rogue instead of one of the big box stores in town? We're asking for $600 O.B.O. (taxes included) That would pay for a couple of nights rent at St. James Hall, or a couple of months rent at our office on West Broadway, or hotel rooms for a band or two. It would certainly help us out, and if you were going to buy a laptop anyway, why not get it from us? I'll bring it to the show tomorrow night, so come and take a look. We've had a tentative offer of $500. Email me on steveedgeonfolk@telus.net if you can beat that price.

See you at The Rogue!
