Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Just a quick note to sat that the March issue of the Rogue Folk Review is now available for download.

This issue will NOT be mailed out in its current form. If you can't wait to read it, please email me and I'll email it back to you in PDF form.

There are colour photos in this issue, and 12 pages of information about our March concerts, a look ahead to our April and May concerts, plus some articles about the Folk Alliance in Memphis.

Also the latest Gig Guide for a look at the best of what's on in town in the Folk / Roots genre (including the corrected date of a concert at Capilano U with the French / Catalan band Lo Cor del la Plana.)

We have two concerts this weekend, in two quite distinct musical styles.

1. Qristina & Quinn Bachand, Friday March 9th, 8pm at St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue)

Scintillating Celtic / Old Time music trio from Victoria featuring Qristina Bachand (fiddle, vocals), her brother Quinn Bachand on guitar, banjo, and California uilleann piper / flautist Zac Leger. Full details are on our website - and in the new issue of the Review! More information on www.qbachand.com The opening act is another stellar young fiddler, Kierah Raymond from White Rock, accompanied by Doug Haynes on bodhran. www.irishmadness.com

2. Red Molly, Sunday March 11th, 8pm at St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue)

Glorious vocals, spine-tingling harmonies, sultry songs, innovative arrangements, and the brilliant dobro playing of Abbie Gardner are trademarks of this wonderful songwriting trio from the States. The other band members are Laurie McAllister (guitar, vocals) and Molly Venter (guitar, vocals.) They have just released their 4th CD, Light In The Sky - their first with Molly Venter in the line-up. One of the hottest acts on the Folk circuit; not to be missed! www.redmolly.com

3. The Edge On Folk, Saturday 8am to noon, on CiTR fm 101.9 (Shaw Cable 88.5fm, Telus TV channel 3717, & streamed live - & podcast - on www.citr.ca)

On this week's show I'll have music by Lo Cor de la Plana, the new Rose Cousins CD, some world music on accordions by Accordion Samurai, lots of new releases brought home from the Folk Alliance in Memphis, and previews of concerts around town - as well as the Celtic Festival - and much more. I'd love it if you could join me.

Have a great weekend - and make it Rogue!
