Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

There's Dancing Tonight!
The Sybs' monthly contra dance takes place tonight, Friday February 6th, at 8pm at St. James Hall to make way for the James Keelaghan concert tomorrow night.

Full details here

James Keelaghan
Saturday February 7th, 8pm
St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue)

This Calgary-born songwriter has been a regular visitor to The Rogue since 1987! Check out this fabulous article in the Prince Albert Daily Herald about his current tour. Read why his Mum had to buy Playboyfrom the local newsagent, how he manages to dovetail being a father, a festival director and a touring musician, and how having just two bass players in his band gives him such a great variety of sounds and musical arrangements. Then come along to St. James Hall tomorrow night and revel in the man's rich voice and his brilliant songs of Canadian history and marvel at the instrumental prowess of those two bass players: Hugh McMillan and David Woodhead.

Radio Waves
I definitely won't be broadcasting outdoors this weekend! This photo was taken at the Mission Folk Music Festival a few years ago - when I was actually able to broadcast the show live from the festival site (using the Box Office wifi feed. This caused problems when the gates opened an hour before my show was over!)

Anyhow, I'll be back on the air tomorrow morning from 8am to noon on The Edge On Folk on CiTR fm 101.9 and www.citr.ca I hope you can join me for four hours of the best Folk & Roots Music I can find to wash away those rainy day blues.

This year sees the 30th Anniversary of my show on CiTR! The Special Birthday Edition will be on Saturday May 30th. I hope to have some musical guests, and will play some of my favourite songs from the past 3 decades. If you would like to suggest a band or a singer or a song, please get in touch!

Meanwhile, I'll have a Valentine's Day Special next weekend, then Heather McCain will fill in on February 21st. I'm off to the Folk Alliance Conference in Kansas City.

On Saturday February 28th it's CiTR's Annual Fundrive and we're asking for your support to keep the show - and the station - on the air. This will be an extra special program, and I hope to have some guests - maybe including Fred Eaglesmith, who is in town for two Rogue concerts that weekend -  on the show. Plus a whole bunch of new music from the Folk Alliance.

This weekend we hope to have a new Radio Rogue service up and running. Probably on Sunday. This should be more reliable than the current broadcast, which has a nasty tendency to go silent every now and then. Radio Rogueruns 24/7 and currently features an extensive playlist of songs by upcoming Rogue performers - plus a healthy dose of new and vintage recordings.
