Thursday April 30th 8pm & Friday May 1st 8pm Buffy Ste-Marie SK/HI Blueshore Stage at Capilano University BOTH SHOWS SOLD OUT
There are great articles about Buffy Sainte-Marie in today's Vancouver Sun and Georgia Straight (we seem to get some of our best media coverage for shows which have already sold out; too bad. We think all our shows are worthy of this much attention. If you don't believe me, come to our Celtic shows this weekend, for example! They will be incredible!)
Accompanying Buffy is a rocking 3-piece all-Aboriginal band from Indian Reserves in Manitoba: Leroy Constant (Cree) on bass, Jesse Green (Lakota/Ojibwe) on guitar, and Mike Bruyere (Ojibwe) on drums. “They’ve got the energy I need for driving songs like Starwalker and No No Keshagesh and it helps that what I sing about and where a lot of my songs originate is a world they know too: the realities of Native American passion, love, tragedy and music”. She is about to launch a new CD, Power In The Blood, on May 12, so will have plenty of new songs. I wonder if she might have some advance copies of the new record to sell ... www.buffysainte-marie.com
Opening is the wonderful young Kootenay BC singer / songwriter Steph Cameron. I've been a fan of hers for a few months, since the September release of her CD Sad-Eyed Lonesome Lady - which gets lots of airplay on my show. We would love to bring her back for her own concert at The Rogue sometime, so let us know if you like her as much as I do! www.stephcameron.com
