We are back from our European river cruise. It was amazing. And hot!
We have three fabulous concerts coming up this month at The Rogue. Seamus Egan Project tomorrow, Sarah Jane Scouten & Suzie Ungerleider next Tuesday, and award-winning indigenous folk duo Twin Flames the following week. These are all absolutely top-notch performers.
I just checked into our advance ticket sales. They are alarmingly low.
1. Seamus Egan Project, Saturday July 8th, 8pm, Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
Tomorrow's show is especially worrisome. This is a touring band from the USA featuring seven-time All-Ireland champion musician Seamus Egan, who led the Celtic supergroup Solas for many years. Seamus won those awards for his incredible musicianship and creativity on flute, whistle, mandolin, tenor banjo, 5 string banjo, and guitar. He co-wrote the hit song "I Will Remember You" with Vancouver songwriter Sarah McLachlan. Vancouver singer Karla Mundy will join the band on stage. I guarantee a stunning concert, so I really hope you will come out and support this show. I will feature Seamus' music on The Saturday Edge On Folk tomorrow morning (8am to noon, on www.citr.ca) so you will have some idea of what to expect. 2. Suzie Ungerleider & Sarah Jane Scouten, Tuesday July 11th, 8pm, Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)

Sarah Jane and Suzie have been friends for years. They will each perform a set, and they will sing a few songs together as well. Bowen Island native Sarah Jane now lives in Scotland so we don't get many chances to see her. She is a lovely singer and fabulous songwriter. Suzie starred at the Canadian Folk Awards here in April, and has just completed a very successful tour of the UK. This will be another great concert for sure! 3. Twin Flames, Tuesday July 18th, 8pm, Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
The indigenous duo Twin Flames are Jaaji - pronounced Y'eye, as in "aye" (Inuk from Nunavik and Mohawk from Kahnawake) and Chelsey June (Algonquin, Métis, Cree & Settler). They write songs delivered through a mix of English, French and Inuttitut. In just seven years of recording and performing, the duo has accumulated 41 music awards and nominations. They offer a memorable show with the perfect blend of music, comedy and thought-provoking stories. Their synchronicity and love shine through at every show. I first met them at the CFMAs in Toronto in 2016 where they won their first awards. I've been a big fan ever since. We are delighted to be able to present them in their first full-length concert in Vancouver, between their appearances at the Vancouver and Mission Folk Music Festivals.
