Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

1. Eilen Jewell, Thursday June 10th 8pm, CBC Studio 700, 700 Hamilton Street

Just a reminder that tonight, Thursday June 10th, we have a special concert with Boston singer Eilen Jewell at CBC Studio 700. Tickets will be available at the door if you don't have time to go online. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. There will be two sets of sublime music that's not easy to categorize: she sings everything from country blues to rockabilly and folk and original songs in her hauntingly beautiful voice, backed by three superb and very tasteful musicians. She has four CDs to her name, the latest being Sea Of Tears (Signature Sounds.) The venue is wheelchair accessible, and we will have beer and wine for sale. The Bread Garden next door is open till 7, maybe later if there's a demand. For more info on Eilen Jewell go to www.eilenjewell.com

2. Deadline for Early Bird Tickets to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival (July 16-18)

Friday, June 11th, is the last day for Early Bird Tickets to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. The price for Rogues is $121, and you can still buy them with your credit card by calling our office, 604-732-1305. On Friday from 10am to 3pm Deborah will be in the office to take your credit card details. You could leave a number for her to call you back, or you could email us your phone number. Please don't leave your credit card number on the phone or email, for your own security.

3. Rogue Folk Review now available for download!

The June issue of the Rogue Folk Review is now available for download. Many of you will have received it in the mail by now. If you have not received it in the mail, but think you should have, please email or phone us and we'll see what we can do. We are trying to save trees and printing and mailing costs, but might get a bit overzealous on the mailing label elimination process sometimes! Conversely, if you have received a copy in the mail, and would prefer to download it, please let us know. Finally, if you recently became a member or renewed your membership, Thank You! You can pick up your new card the next time you come to a concert.

5. The Edge On Folk on CiTR 101.9 this weekend

Don't forget to tune in to The Edge On Folk on Saturday morning from 8am to noon. Last week we were treated to a visit by Wake The Dead. Wonderful people! They will be back, I assure you. (I posted some photos of the Friday night concert on my website, http://gallery.me.com/steveedge3) This week I'll have some new releases from England by The Unthanks, Coope Boyes & Simpson, The Urban Folk Quartet, and Emily Portman. Plus a fabulous new collaboration between Breton fiddler Jacky Molard and his quartet with Malian chanteuse Foune Diarra and her band. New Celtic music from Lunasa and Michael McGoldrick, new bluegrass / jam band music from The Infamous Stringdusters and Texas wunderkind Sarah Jarosz, and much more. Plus previews of concerts at the Rogue and the summer festivals. The Edge On Folk airs every Saturday from 8am to noon on CiTR fm 101.9 and is streamed live on www.citr.ca (You may also download podcasts of the show from that site.) Playlists are archived on the Rogue website
