Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Just a few brief notes this week:

1. Steve on CBC North By Northwest tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 7am on 88.1fm and 690am

I will be Sheryl McKay's guest tomorrow morning from 7 to 7:30am to talk about the festival season and play a couple of tunes

2. The Edge On Folk, Saturday from 8am to noon, on CiTR fm101.9 and www.citr.ca

Then I'm off to CiTR for four hours of festival previews and new releases. Lots of new CDs and plenty by the festival artists you're curious about (I hope) but have not yet heard. Some exciting stuff!

3. Radio Rogue

I'll be adding some more new cuts to Radio Rogue later today, including a lot of music by those artists coming to the Island Musicfest, Vancouver and Mission Folk Music Festivals, and the Filberg Festival.

4. Madison Violet on Shore 104.3fm

Tune in on Sunday from 9pm to 10pm to hear the Madison Violet concert recorded at The Rogue in May.

5. Mission Folk Festival Ticket Deadline

Next Friday, July 10th is the deadline to buy early bird tickets to the fabulous Mission Folk Music Festival. Call 604-732-1305 or email Deborah to make sure you don't miss out! Adult weekend passes are $72, Seniors $49, Youth $45, Children $10. Camping is $20 per adult. More info on www.missionfolkmusicfestival.ca

6. Vancouver Folk Music Festival tickets

If you purchased your folk festival tickets from us, please call 604-732-1305 or email Deborah to make arrangements to pick them up.

7. Coming Concerts

We're still finalizing details of summer shows at Shorefest and CBC Studio 700, and we will have details of these - and our Fall Season - on the website very soon! So keep checking Concert Calendar for the latest news!

8. Jazz Festival shows

Check out the amazing Persian / Turkish fusion band, Niyaz, tonight at Performance Works on Granville Island. The band recently moved from California to Quebec, so you'll be hearing a lot more of them in the next few months.

On Sunday Jim Kweskin and Geof Muldaur are reunited in concert at Capilano Performing Arts Theatre. They were roots music pioneers together in the mid sixties in Jim Kweskin's Jug Band, a hugely influential band. I'll be there for sure.

Have a great weekend!
