Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

We just got back from an amazing time at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. So many highlights and so many stories... I'll post a blog on the website later. For now, I must say that the music entered the stratosphere with The Levon Helm Band - with guests The Waifs singing The Weight. That was a stunning high-point on Friday night. They were followed by Calexico, who were joined by Bassekou Kouyate before he led his own band in the closing set that night. Other surprise hits included Seattle songwriter Brandi Carlile and Colombian group Aterciopelados.

I've posted on my website some photos from Edmonton, Mission, Vancouver, Island Musicfest, Shorefest and the recent Debashish Bhattacharya show at CBC. Here's the link: http://gallery.me.com/steveedge3#gallery

We've just put the Colin Linden show tickets on sale online and are in the process of adding two amazing shows in September: A Gospel Cruise on Sunday Sept 19th with The Sojourners and friends aboard The Queen Of Diamonds, and a Cajun Honky Tonk Dance at St. James Hall with The Foghorn Stringband plus Joel Savoy (fiddle) and Jesse Leger (accordion) from Lafayette, Louisiana. This will take place on Saturday September 25th. Full details will be on the website later this week.

The Edge On Folk this Saturday from 8am to 12 noon on CiTR fm 101.9 (streamed live on www.citr.ca) will include a detailed report on Edmonton with music by many of the performers, plus new releases from the likes of a new UK trio called Bellevue Rendezvous and Summer Song Search winner Zaac Pick from Surrey. I hope you can join me. I missed hosting my show last Saturday and can't wait to get back into the saddle.

I'm working on the September issue of the Rogue Folk Review so if you have an event coming up please let me know and I'll try to include it.

Cheers for now

Steve
