Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

1. Memories of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival

There were many highlights, none more so than the closing act on Sunday - Alison Krauss & Robert Plant (above) and their fabulous band. In fact they were so good I bought tickets to see them again on Tuesday night at the QE Theatre in Vancouver! Bluegrass fiddle legend Stuart Duncan excelled on guitars, mandolin, dobro and banjo as well. Drummer Jay Bellerose uses side drums and a monster kick drum to supply a booming and thrilling beat. The whole band are brilliant musicians.

There were good concert sets by Blue Rodeo, La Misa Negra, Danielle Ponder, and Rhiannon Giddens, and exciting workshops / sessions involving the likes of Black Umfolosi International, Gunning & Cormier, Les Grands Hurleurs, Eric Bibb & Michael Jerome Browne, The McDades, Buffalo Nichols, Good Lovelies, Jake Vaadeland & The Sturgeon River Boys, John Reischman & The Jaybirds, Don Ross & Jule Malischke, Boy Golden, K. T. Tunstall, and more, but it was hot and dusty and no matter what you chose to see you were missing four or five other sessions at the same time. Such is the nature of Canadian folk festivals.

This was another exceptional edition of the EFMF. Number 45 is in the books and etched in the memory. Roll on 46!

Here is my FlickR Gallery from this year's EFMF

2. Radio Waves

On this week's Saturday Edge On Folk I'll be spinning tunes by many of the aforementioned highlighted EFMF performers as well as new releases by the likes of Colin James, Guy Davis, Kym Gouchie, Jontavious Willis, Terra Spencer, Olivia Barrett, Vishten, and Open The Door For Three. Plus previews of upcoming Rogue performers (see below!) I hope you will tune me in and turn me on again, from 8am to 12 noon on CiTR fm101.9 and www.citr.ca

3. There's Never Been A Better Time To Be A Real Rogue and Purchase a Parcel O'Rogues - or Two

Parcel O'Rogues gives you 10 Rogue shows at a big discount. On September 1st 2024 we are going to have to increase the cost from $209 to $259. We will still honour existing Parcels up to their expiry date - which is written on the card. So, if you act now you could still buy a Parcel at the $209 cost

4. And Here Is The List Of Concerts We Have Coming Up In The Next Few Months

Please support your local folk music concert series any way you can. We need your support more than ever and we have some exceptional performers coming up, but without you these shows would be much less fun....

Just Click on the links below to find out more about these incredible performers. (The 2024 links will take you to the Rogue ticket and info pages. The 2025 links go to the performers' websites - because we haven't set up the tickets yet.)
