Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Just a quick reminder about the concert we have tomorrow evening. Red Molly at St. James Hall (see below). Also, huge thanks to the folks who turned up in such big numbers to see the Foghorn Trio last Saturday. The Dave Alvin show at CPAT was amazing too. I've put some photos from both shows on my Photo Gallery gallery.me.com/steveedge3

1. Red Molly, Friday January 14, 8pm at St. James Hall, 3214 West 10th Avenue)

Don't miss the Vancouver debut of this wonderful trio from New York State. Laurie McAllister (who sings on the new Folger's coffee commercial on TV) and Abbie Gardner are founding members of the trio. Abbie is a superb dobro player, by the way. They were joined at the end of 2010 by Texas songwriter Molly Venter. Red Molly's 3rd CD, James, rocketed into the Americana Music Association's Top 100 of 2010 - at Number 23! It is the only independently-produced CD in their Top 60. Check out this video of the trip performing a couple of songs at NYC's winery and chatting backstage www.youtube.com/redmollyband#p/a/f/0/w9XWyHyzQS8

You can read a lot more about them on their website www.redmolly.com but why just read about them? Come down and see for yourself why so many people are talking about this band. I've been smitten by their music since first hearing them 3 years ago. I think you will be, too. Tickets are available online and at the door, as well as at Highlife Records and Rufus' Guitar Shop.

2. Radio Waves

I'm just about to update the Radio Rogue playlist again. I took the Christmas songs off yesterday! I'll be adding more music by our upcoming performers later today. Meanwhile you can tune in by clicking on this link and following the prompts.

On CiTR's The Edge On Folk this Saturday from 8am to 12 noon on 101.9fm and streamed live on www.citr.ca I'll have a bunch of new releases, including a new Abigail Washburn CD, a new release by French vielle a roue maestro Patrick Bouffard, the 3rd CD by Winnipeg's amazing duo Twilight Hotel, the new Lynn Miles CD, a stunning gypsy jazz band from Quebec called Christine Tassan et Les Imposteures, an equally stunning young Irish singer called Imelda May, a preview of the new Mae Moore CD, and some fabulous - and very varied - new music from Denmark! Plus previews of upcoming concerts and much more. Please join me for 4 hours of the very best Roots music on the planet!

3. Yamandu Costa at CPAT

Regrettably, this Sunday's concert was cancelled. So don't head over to North Van.

Have a great weekend. See you at The Rogue!
