Despite their different backgrounds, Canadian songwriter James Keelaghan and England's Jez Lowe have established a musical relationship of more than 30 years. Individually they put on an incredibly intimate and compelling evening of stories in song. Together they weave their stories around humurous and / or poignant tales of life on the road and in the new reality of coping with war, the pandemic, and economic uncertainty.

3. Get Back Unplugged, Thursday March 14th, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
A couple of years ago I asked Cam Wilson (Van Django / Mad Pudding / The Wahs) and Andy Hillhouse (Mad Pudding / The McDades) if they would be interested in paying tribute to the anniversary of The Beatles rooftop concert which had just been celebrated in Sir Peter Jackson's feature documentary. They jumped at the chance and recruited Vancouver singer LJ Mounteney to augment the band for a one-off show at The Rogue. Get Back Unplugged was such an enjoyable concert that they reprised it last year, and even took it on the road around BC. We are delighted to bring them back for another evening of nostalgia, with their unique approach to genre-blending making it even more enjoyable!

4. Dani Larkin | Twin Embers, Sunday March 17th, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day with one of Ireland's most creative and original singer / songwriters - Dani Larkin. Her duo will start the evening with some compelling songs and brilliant fretwork on guitar and banjo.
Vancouver fiddle duo Twin Embers opened for Newfoundland's Rum Ragged last November. Their spirited musicianship and fine singing made for the perfect rollicking start to that show. We are delighted to bring them back to close the evening with some fiery Celtic tunes and songs - west coast style (with a hearty east coast flavour, too!)

5. Imar, Thursday March 21st, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
This Glasgow-based band’s crammed trophy cabinet includes several BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Imar (pronounced ee-mah, after a Celtic goddess) made their Rogue debut with a memorable concert back in 2019. Featuring the mercurial concertina wizard Mohsen Amini (who led Scots trio Talisk in that wonderful Celtic rave at The Rogue last September), the band also stars Cork piper Ryan Murphy, brilliant Manx fiddler Tomas Callister and fellow Manx bouzouki player Adam Rhodes, and Englishman Adam Brown on guitar and bodhran. Together they make some of the most exciting and creative sounds in the world of Celtic music today. They recently released their 3rd CD, Awakening. Come awaken your senses with Imar! 6. Matthew Byrne, Saturday March 23rd, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
Without a doubt, Newfoundland's Matthew Byrne is one of Canada's finest traditional singers. In fact I would say he is one of the very best singers of trad songs on the planet. He adds his own compositions and exemplary guitar work to the mix, and his voice and stage presence fill any concert venue - or festival stage - with rich vocals, engaging banter, and brilliant, subtly minimalistic fretwork.
