1. Aleksi Campagne, Thursday May 14th, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
We welcome back Aleksi Campagne, one of Connie Kaldor's exceptionally talented sons, for what promises to be another fabulous concert of original, massively creative music and song! He is a great singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter with an award-winning debut double CD and a new one now set for a delayed release in the Fall.
Aleksi will have plenty of new songs to sing and he will only be accompanied by his own self, laying down the accompaniment at the start of each song, and building up the sound in layers before lopping them all into supporting his vocals as he goes. It's a remarkable exercise in both talent and application!
It would be great to fill the hall with music fans, so why not take a chance and come on down to hear this exceptional artist in action? If you can't make it to the show for whatever reason, please consider the Watch At Home option, provided by our good friends at Hubcast Media. You can watch any time, not just live at 8pm.

2. Van Django, Sunday May 17th, 8pm, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)
The brilliant musicianship of Vancouver quartet Van Djangocannot be overstated. They are all incredible players, none more so than fiddler extraordinaire Cam Wilson, who has just returned from a triumphant tour of Europe with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Van Django takes delight in converting popular songs from just about any and every genre into kaleidoscopic medleys of instrumental wonder in the distinctive style made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France in the 1930s and 1940s.
We couldn't revive our April In Paris festival this year, but it's only a few weeks since April, so regardless, why not flaunt some Frenchness and feel the Parisian groove encore une fois this Sunday?
