Rogue 33 RPM | June 15 | This Day in Rogue History
On this day in 2003 The Rogue presented Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart at the Wise Hall. The eloquent Mr. Al Meyer wrote the introduction on Page 2 of our June 2003 Rogue Folk Review.
In 2001, dance caller, accordion player and the founder of the Rogue's Contra Dance series Marian Rose celebrated the launch of a CD and Book - The Community Dance Project - with a special dance at the Wise Hall. See page 2 of our June 2001 Review for details.
In 1991 we presented a rare Vancouver show with popular BC entertainer Valdy at the Wise Hall, with opening act Linda Waterfall from Seattle. Valdy was honoured with The Order Of Canada in July 2012. I think he's the only "Rogue" OC to date. We were very fortunate to be on Saltspring Island on the night of his 70th birthday celebration at the Fulford Hall a few years back. On a visit to New Zealand a few years prior to that we stumbled upon the Mussel Inn, which is a small venue on the North Island. Valdy's pictures adorn the entrance. He plays there a lot. Lucky man!
