Frazey Ford plus special guests Wednesday December 3rd 8pm and Thursday December 4th 8pm St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue) Both Shows SOLD OUT This will be an incredible two-night stand for the Be Good Tanyas lead singer and her brand new, superb solo CD, Indian Ocean. The album was recorded in Memphis with Al Green's rhythm section and Memphis horns. It's a sumptuously soulful collection of songs and Frazey will have her 8-piece band on stage at The Rogue.
There will not be a standby line as both shows are completely sold out so don't come "on spec" unless you feel especially lucky!
If you have tickets get there early to get the best seats. Doors open at 7pm. The openers are Vancouver folk-rock trio Nothingness on the 3rd and Vancouver folk-rock quintet Summering on the 4th. They play for 30 minutes and Frazey will be on stage by 8:50. |

John Reischman & The Jaybirds Friday December 5th 8pm St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue) John Reischman and the Jaybirds are one of the very best bluegrass bands on the planet! With three band members living in B.C. and the other two in Washington State, they are pretty much resident "birds" too. Their migratory travels take them around the world for much of the year, so we are delighted to say that they are landing in Vancouver on December 5 with a new EP tucked under their wings, entitled On a Winter’s Night. What better way to usher in winter than a new EP, celebrating Winter and the Festive season - please note you will not here a jingle bell on this new recording - rather, this is a collection of eight wintery traditional tunes. The EP was largely inspired by an album of seasonal folk songs released by the Seeger family - Mike, Peggy and Penny - in 1992, and features some pared down combinations of instruments as well as the full strength Jaybirds sound. John assures us you’ll enjoy this album as much with a mojito next summer, as you will with your egg nog this December. So, come down to the Rogue Folk Club and hear some new and old favourites with the Jaybirds on December 5.
Tickets are available online and at Highlife Records, Prussin Music, Red Cat Records, and Rufus' Guitar Shop. They will also be available at the door before show time at 8pm. |
